Really good article about the “In God We Trust” bill in Pennsylvania. Make sure to read the whole story at the link below the quote.
Hempfield Superintendent Brenda Becker is looking forward to that meeting because she has several concerns about the bill.
“I certainly have no aversion to the national motto, but this is another situation where it will cost us precious resources to have these signs created and posted,” she said, adding that it may also cause issues that disrupt the focus on education due to concerns regarding separation of church and state.
But Becker’s first concern is that the bill “does nothing to address the actual problems involving education.”
“My biggest frustration is that we have real problems of solving the funding issue for schools as a whole and special education funding specifically, as well as pension and property tax reform that is not simply tax shifting,” she said.
