This is a great op-ed in support of Pennsylvania’s nondiscrimination bill, HB300. Click the link below the quote to find out why we need this legislation!
According to recent polling conducted by Franklin and Marshall, a whopping 72 percent of voters say they support legislation to end legal discrimination faced by the LGBT community. This public support is unsurprising considering the broad coalition that has endorsed this legislation, including Fortune 500 companies and labor unions, faith leaders and civil rights proponents. In fact, a record number of bipartisan legislators have co-sponsored House and Senate Bills 300, a legislative solution to this issue, and the effort even gained the support of Gov. Tom Corbett. Yet, a minority of far-right legislators has prevented movement on this important issue, and it’s time for that to change.
The growth in public support is welcome and encouraging, but it’s not even the reason that Pennsylvania needs to act on non-discrimination this year.
