Meet with DVAU members for lunch on the third Tuesday each month in Cherry Hill NJ! Join our daytime discussion group in South Jersey, led by longtime DVAU member Marion Steininger. To be held on the third Tuesday of each month at 12:00pm at Sakura Spring on Route 70. Heading east from 295, it’s just past the old Syms store in the very next little shopping area – the very next entry. http://www.sakuraspring.com/
The Cherry Hill lunchtime discussion group meets from 12 noon to 2:00pm. Meeting attendees are not obligated to buy lunch, but you may want to, as lunch specials are between $8-$10 for Chinese food and $13-$15 for sushi, and the food is delicious. RSVPs are preferred but not required; email firstname.lastname@example.org to be put in touch with Marion and the group.
Discussion topics range from issues covered in Americans United’s Church & State Magazine, to news stories in the local media, and more. We occasionally have a speaker who gives a talk during the lunch.
You can RSVP and get more details on DVAU’s Meetup group, http://www.meetup.com/churchandstate-48/
The monthly South Jersey lunches are also listed on DVAU’s Facebook Events tab: https://www.facebook.com/delvalau/events
**At our July 21 2015 meeting, the guest speaker will be Ethan Andersen of Compassion and Choices, discussing New Jersey’s aid-in-dying legislation and how the Religious Right is trying to block it.**
When it comes to end of life issues such as death and dying: who chooses? New Jersey Bill A2270/S382, “Aid in Dying for the terminally Ill Act”; permits qualified terminally ill patient to self-administer medication to end life in humane and dignified manner, is currently pending. This is an issue of interest to advocates of church-state separation and all those who value human dignity and self-determination.
Ethan Andersen is a Field Organizer for Compassion & Choices, the nation’s leading End of Life Choice advocacy organization. He is also a Finance major at Rutgers University, who graduated in May 2015.
