The Delaware Valley Americans United Chapter will meet on Thursday April 2, 2015, from 7:00pm to 8:30pm at the Free Library of Philadelphia, 19th & Vine Sts, in Room 405.
Delaware Valley Americans United invites you to our April 2nd meeting, featuring DVAU Clergy Advisory Board member Dr. Jennifer M. Booker, Ph.D with her talk on “The View from the Wild Side – Minority Religions and Separation of Church and State.”
Dr. Booker’s talk will focus on nature religions, which are not faith-based and are outside of the mainstream Abrahamic religions (Christianity, Judaism, & Muslim). What makes nature religions different philosophically and in practice, and how does that affect separation of church and state issues? What guidance is the Religious Right using to judge nature religions?
Raised in various Protestant and Baptist denominations, Dr. Booker has been a practicing Wiccan for 30 years, including training in several Wiccan traditions, the Church of All Worlds, and exposure to Egyptian, Erisian, and Druidic practices. She has earned three engineering degrees and teaches computing for Drexel University.
