The Delaware Valley Americans United Chapter, DVAU, will meet on Thursday October 8, 2015, from 7:00pm to 8:30pm at the Free Library of Philadelphia, 19th & Vine Sts, in Room 407. Free and open to the public.

Our October 8 2015 speaker will be a member of DVAU’s Clergy Advisory Board, Hugh Taft-Morales of the Ethical Humanist Society of Philadelphia (http://phillyethics.org/), speaking on “The Wall for All: Protecting the Integrity of Both State and Religion.”

Ethical Humanism supports a high wall of separation between the state and religion. As Thomas Jefferson said, this wall is “essential in a free society.” It protects the rights of citizens of religious, atheist, and non-theist perspectives. As zealots try to deconstruct this wall brick by brick, we must speak out more forcefully against those who distort its real purpose: to maintain the secular nature of the state so it better serves believers and non-believers alike.

Enter the library, pass the info desk to the alcove on the right. Take the elevator to the 4th floor, follow the hallway around the corner, following the “Kitchen” signs. Room 407 is the third door on the right. (Not our usual room.) We’ll have an Americans United sign on the door. Please join us for this important look at how separation of church and state protects both.
