Save the date for Sunday, December 6th, 2015, from 11am to 6pm! Three local secular groups are joining forces to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the landmark intelligent design lawsuit, Kitzmiller v Dover. This 2005 case found that “Intelligent Design” is just another word for “Creationism,” a theological doctrine that denies the scientific theory of evolution.
The Delaware Valley Chapter of Americans United for Separation of Church and State (DVAU) is working closely with the Freethought Society and the Ethical Humanist Society of Philadelphia to bring you an amazing event from 11am to 6pm on December 6. We will open with the Ethical Society’s Sunday Platform, then decorate the winter holiday Tree of Knowledge with book jackets from our favorite science books and more. After lunch, we’ll have several amazing speakers, followed by a wine and cheese reception!
To help us get an accurate headcount, and to help you remember in December, you may “join” or RSVP for the event on DVAU’s Facebook Page (click here) or on DVAU’s Meetup Group (click here). The Freethought Society and Ethical Humanist society will also post event notices some time soon.
The posted schedule is preliminary and will change in the future, but we’re booked at the Ethical Society building, 1906 S Rittenhouse Square, from 11am-6pm on Sunday December 6, 2015. Save the date and be sure to join us in December!
