After over seven years as the President of the Delaware Valley Chapter of Americans United for Separation of Church and State, Chapter President Ed Joyce is stepping down from his role as chapter leader, as he is moving out of the area to settle down in Oregon.
During his time as DVAU President, Ed introduced the biannual chapter Symposium. bringing excellent speakers from around the country to Philadelphia for a daylong discussion of church-state separation issues.Ed delivered several popular talks to groups all over the Delaware Valley and beyond, educating the public about such issues as the controversy over teaching evolution in public schools and the faiths of the Founding Fathers. Ed even used props and humor to teach about separation of church and state, dressing up as an “old time revival preacher” for DVAU’s audience and having our members debunk old church-state myths. Ed also wrote many blog posts and articles for DVAU’s website, and was published in the local press on numerous occasions.
We at DVAU will miss Ed and his lovely wife Ellen as they embark on their journey. We thank them both for their many years of service to the Delaware Valley AU Chapter, and we are grateful to them for helping DVAU grow under their leadership. It is sad to see them go, but they will be remembered always! Thank you, Ed and Ellen!
