Americans United for Separation of Church and State urges citizens to oppose school vouchers programs, which put taxpayers in the position of financing religiously-based discrimination.
It’s okay for religious groups and schools to hire/fire based on their doctrine, as long as they don’t expect taxpayers to foot the bill.
NJ residents can voice their opposition to NJ’s voucher bill by calling or emailing, see details here: http://njkidsandfamilies.org/takeaction/
New Jersey legislators are being pressured to push S-1872, the voucher bill, on a FAST TRACK.
Governor Christie has already cut $1.3 BILLION from New Jersey’s public schools. And now his proposed voucher bill would drain another $360 MILLION from our public schools by funneling money to private and religious schools and allowing corporations to receive dollar-for-dollar tax credits for contributions to “scholarship funds” for private school students.
The cost of the voucher would be deducted from the state aid of any district that loses a student using vouchers for private and religious schools, making it even harder to educate students in New Jersey’s public schools.
We cannot allow the Legislature to cut even more money from our schools at the expense of our children’s education.
Please email your legislator now and tell them you oppose vouchers, before even more damage is done to New Jersey’s high quality public schools.
We must take action today!
